YT Industries unveils new model release system with updated Jeffsy trail bike builds
YT to use 'core' model system rather than traditional model years, starting with new Jeffsy builds
YT Industries has changed how new bike models are categorized and released. Instead of using traditional model years, the brand will now have a 'Core' range of bikes, with new build kits being released on a rolling basis. The German brand will also offer an 'Uncaged' model classification, which will feature premium builds with the latest and greatest componentry, similar to the Blaze models released earlier this year.
A key aspect of the Core model system is that YT will update build kits as new parts become available from manufacturers. For example, a model can be updated to the newest drivetrain immediately, instead of waiting until the next model year refresh.
The Core models will be labeled with numbers. The higher the number, the nicer and more expensive the build kit will be. YT is unveiling this new system with its Jeffsy line of trail bikes. Each model is designed for a particular type of rider in mind.
The Jeffsy Core 2 uses an aluminum frame and is available in 29-inch or 27.5-inch frames. The model is geared toward experienced riders who want a budget-minded frame or newer riders who don't want to fuss around with carbon. The model uses a Fox 36 Float Performance fork and Fox Float DPX2 Performance shock to provide 150mm of travel front and rear for 29ers or 160mm for 27.5-inch bikes. The kit also features a SRAM NX Eagle drivetrain.
Both the Jeffsy Core 3 and Core 4 use a carbon frame and are only available as 29ers. The Core 3's 150mm of front and rear suspension uses a Fox 36 Float Performance Elite fork and Fox Float DPX2 Factory Performance Elite shock. The build also features a SRAM GX Eagle drivetrain and SRAM G2 R brakes with 200mm rotors.
At the top of the range, the Jeffsy Core 4 features the same Fox 36 fork and DPX2 rear shock, but the suspension is bumped up another level to the Fox Factory line of products. A SRAM X01 Eagle drivetrain takes care of shifting and SRAM G2 RSC brakes provide stopping power.
Each Jeffsy model's geometry can be adjusted with a flip-chip, which lowers the bottom bracket by 8mm and slackens the head tube angle by 0.5-degrees. The Jeffsy is available in sizes S-XXL and is available now on YT's website.
