Blacks, the well-known adventure and outdoor retailer is on a mission to get you out on the trails for less this summer. The Big Blacks Summer Sale has massive discounts across the site on the best mountain biking kit, and bikepacking goodies. They have now slashed 42% off the Jamis Dakar which means this full-suspension MTB deal is available for just £799.

Our Tech Editor Guy Kesteven reviewed the Jamis Dakar at its RRP of £1,400 last year, and he was full of praise saying, "For the money, the Jamis Dakar is a very well specced and enjoyably engaging hardtail beater – a full-suspension mountain bike with a hardtail price."

The Jamis Dakar comes equipped with a Shimano Deore drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and most notably suspension components from RockShox, which means the spec you're getting at the discounted price is much better than most of the other best budget full suspension mountain bikes.

Jamis Dakar: £1,400, now £799 at Blacks
Available for just £799, the Jamis Dakar has plenty going for it and Guy Kesteven summed up the Dakar in his review saying, "The Jamis Dakar gives significantly more comfort and technical trail-taming ability than a hardtail, and it has better spec in terms of performance, durability and brand name appeal than a lot of other best budget mountain bikes."

The deal is available across sizes from XS to XL in two colorways. Go Outdoors, has the same deal if the size and color choice isn't available at Blacks. You need to be a member at Go Outdoors to take advantage of that deal.

At this price, the Jamis Dakar is a great way to get into mountain biking, diving deeper into the details it has a spec more than capable enough to get you out and enjoy the trails with confidence. The Dakar's MP2 alloy frame has also won numerous industry awards and is paired with a RockShox Monarch rear shock and up front a RockShox Judy fork with 120mm of travel on both.

Elsewhere it features a wide range 11-46t Shimano Deore 1x groupset. There are hydraulic Shimano MT200 disc brakes for confident braking and the bike rolls on tubeless ready 27.5in WTB STX i25 wheels with fast-rolling tubeless WTB 27.5x2.4in tires. Our handy tubeless tire set-up guide has all the information on this simple but performance-enhancing upgrade.

The Dakar is also ready for a dropper post-upgrade and Guy also highlighted that fitting one of the best budget dropper posts would make a huge performance difference to the Dakar. You'll also need pedals and we recommend the best clipless SPD pedals for a budget model, the Shimano M520 is superb.

This deal is UK only but if you're based in the US don't worry, you'll find the best budget mountain bike deals in your location below.
