Mondraker partner brand ONOFF launches its 2023 mountain bike components
Extensive updates to its MTB product range include super lightweight carbon bars and dropper posts
The 2023 Mondraker mountain bike collection was a statement of intent and it features a stunning lineup of the Spanish brands best mountain bikes to date. They have also recently launched the Mondraker Dusty XR, which sees the brand dip its toes into the best gravel e-bike arena for the first time.
The Mondraker success story has gone hand-in-hand with their component brand, ONOFF. Over more than 20 years of working side-by-side, they’ve evolved together at all levels – technology, design, and research and development. A journey that will soon be celebrating its 25th anniversary and one in which they have sought a common aim, to create the best mountain bikes, equipped with the best mountain bike components.
The ONOFF's research and development department works closely with the Mondraker technical team, sharing both resources and spirit, and every ONOFF product has to pass very high standards, from initial sketches through to 3D printing, prototyping, and dynamic testing until they have the final high-quality product ready. ONOFF says that its 2023 range is the most extensive and versatile yet and we took a first look at the extensive list of new products.
Helium, Krypton and Sulfur
The 2023 lineup comes in three ranges – Helium, Krypton and Sulfur.
Helium is the lightweight collection of the 2023 range and is focused solely on XC and downcountry with carbon bars and seatposts. Both the handlebars and the seatposts are said to be super lightweight components, with the Helium Carbon ACL 0.0 bar weighing in at a claimed 115g. The top-of-the-range stem models are CNC-manufactured from a single billet of aluminum.
ONOFF says that the Krypton range is perfect for enduro and all-mountain, again with carbon handlebars and CNC aluminum stems which are compatible with all brands of handlebars and forks (including double crown). They are aimed to be super strong and capable of dealing with the extremes of enduro.
Finally, Sulfur has all the quality and design of ONOFF products at a more budget price. It's their most versatile range with handlebars, stems and seatposts all made of 6061-T6 aluminum.
Pija seatposts
The Pija is an ONOFF star component and aimed to challenge as one of the best dropper posts out there. It comes in a selection of diameters from 27.2mm to 31.6mm and multiple travel options. The SL version, which is the lightest in the collection, comes in at a claimed 365g with 70mm and 125mm options.
The rest of the range is also available in 27.2 and 31.6mm diameters and in 110, 125, 150, 170 and 200mm travel options. Weights range from 548g up to 635g for the 200mm-travel model. This version includes all-new DU bushings.
All models feature infinite height adjustment, a 100 percent sealed aluminum low- maintenance and with an easily replaceable cartridge, internal cable routing, and ball-bearing remote lever to ensure maximum smoothness and precision.
ONOFF 31.6mm Pija seatposts offer 30mm of travel adjustable in 5mm steps, plus the useful ability to adjust the return speed by changing the air pressure.
Brake discs
ONOFF see braking as one of the most important aspects of a high-performance mountain bike, and they have produced three ranges of brake discs for the 2023 season.
Standard has discs made from a single piece of highly durable stainless steel. Available in 160, 180, 203 and 220mm diameters in the 6-bolt mounting standard.
The Floating Cooler is a three-piece disc, designed to dissipate heat up to 20 seconds faster than a conventional disc. The braking surface is made of stainless steel for longer life and the cooling fins and the central spider are made from aluminum. Available in 160, 180 and 203mm sizes, the spider is available in blue, black, red and green in the 6-bolt mounting standard.
Finally, the two-piece CNC is what they say is the perfect range to meet the most demanding braking expectations thanks to its two-piece construction. Manufactured with a central spider in CNC aluminum, it is available in black, gray or red. It has a beveled edge to prevent injuries and is available in 140, 160, 180 and 203mm in the 6-bolt mounting standard.
Chainrings, pedals and chain guides
Improving and taking care of the drivetrain is one of the aspects that can make the biggest difference when it comes to getting the most out of your mountain bike. ONOFF claims to have a selection of conventional and oval chainrings compatible with most systems and standards, in addition to those specific for Bosch systems including the fourth-generation Performance CX Line motor. They also use machined 7075 aluminum for the vast majority of our models with teeth ranging from 28 to 36 depending on the model and discipline.
The 2023 ONOFF range of drivetrains features a selection of direct mount chain guides, ISCG 05, seat tube mount, and derailleur mounts among other options and finally the fundamental points of contact between rider and bike, there is a variety of models of both pedals and grips.
ONOFF has always been linked to competition and say its part of its identity forged in a large part by Mondraker's international successes. Collaborating with some of the best racers in the world has been essential for the brand to get the best feedback on the final prototypes before going to production.
As a statement of its belief in its products, and what they say is the winning DNA of the ONOFF-Mondraker combination, the Primaflor-Mondraker-Genuins team members will use the Helium Cross Country series throughout the 2023 season, with carbon handlebars, stems and grips.
