We recently reviewed the Santa Cruz Tallboy GX AXS RSV  and gave it 4.5 stars out of 5. The latest Tallboy is one of the best trail mountain bikes around, if you've been considering pulling the trigger on one, then this great deal I've found may just convince you even more.

We have previously highlighted great deals on Santa Cruz bikes at Backcountry, and they are at it again with this brilliant all-rounder MTB. The Santa Cruz Tallboy in its C S build currently has a reduction of $600 on the RRP. There's some other Tallboy versions also with discounts to take a look at too.

Backcountry also has the lowest price guarantee, so if you happen to find a better deal on this bike, they'll refund the difference – which sweetens the deal even more. So if all that hasn't got you reaching for the credit card, then here's why I reckon the Santa Cruz Tallboy in this build is a highly recommended deal.

Our reviewer Mick Kirkman rated the Santa Cruz Tallboy as "fast and responsive and perfectly balances never sapping your energy with not sapping your thrills."

The C S build features the same carbon frame as the GX AXS RSV but not the almost $8,000 price tag. It does sacrifice some of the carbon finishing features for alloy and runs cheaper Race Face aluminum ARs, but the overall package with the added discount represents superb value for money.

It's currently available at Backcountry sizes from XS-XXL (depending on color chosen), in either Gloss Melon or Matte White.

Why you should buy the Santa Cruz Tallboy

The Santa Cruz Tallboy is built around the brand's superb Carbon C layup frame which is slightly heavier than the brand high-end Carbon CC construction. The frame also has a sealed and rattle-free internal storage system called 'Glovebox' and Mick said it was, "a well-sorted and roomy frame storage space".

The Tallboy C S build comes with RaceFace AR Offset 30 29-inch wheels designed to ride aggressively without worry. The 65.5-degree headtube angle and size-specific chainstays aim to deliver a nimble and responsive performance on all manner of surfaces and be capable steepest of climbs and descents. Size-specific seat tube angles give riders of every size the same perfectly-centered position for pedaling, and size-specific carbon layups provide optimal frame stiffness for every frame size.

As Mick said in his review, "the Tallboy is a bit of a modern classic and one of the fastest and most versatile short travel trail bikes about. Everything from the chassis/ride feel and geometry to the perfectly-tuned suspension works in perfect harmony to boost your fun factor." and added, "the Tallboy’s back end is simply greedier than any 120mm bike has any right to be, chomping up repeated hits while also pedaling like stink if you give it some beans."

The hard-riding components on the C S build includes wireless electronic gearing from SRAM and their GX AXS Eagle drivetrain and a Fox 34 Float Performance with 130mm of travel paired with a Fox Float Performance DPS shock and 120mm of travel. Braking also comes from SRAM and the reliable and controllable braking power of the G2 R 4-piston hydraulic with 180mm rotors.

The dropper post is an SDG Tellis Dropper with travel varying from 100mm to 170mm depending on frame size. The build is completed with RaceFace AR Offset 30 rims, that roll on Maxxis tires.
