Funn releases a new range of properly specced kids' MTB components designed for little shredders
Funn’s new children's specific handlebars, grips, and pedals are designed to keep your kids on track and in control out on the trails
Component manufacturer, Funn, has launched a new range of mountain bike parts for kids. The new range covers all rider touch points on the bike including handlebars, stem, grips, and pedals.
Getting the right handlebar setup and having the best mountain bike pedals make a huge difference to bike control out on the trail, especially for those in their formative trail riding years. Sourcing components that suit kid's smaller dimensions can be tricky. Funn’s says the new kids range shares the same quality in design and manufacturing as its adult components so your little ones can hit the same trails as you.
Up front, Funn has two new handlebar options, the Speedrun JR handlebar and the Upturn R75mm. The Speedrun JR is made from AL6061, featuring a 19mm rise for young riders ready to hit the trails. The Upturn R75mm handlebar is an AL6066 with a 75mm rise and is designed for aggressive trail riding, jumps, and BMX. Both handlebars come in a choice of six bright colors; Black, Red, Grey, Blue, Orange, and Green.
To make the Speedrun JR handlebar kid-specific, Funn has given the handlebar a narrower 19mm end section which allows slimmer grip diameters to better suit smaller hands. Funn has also developed a downsized version of its Hilt MTB grip, the Hilt JR features a 26mm outer diameter to give little hands a better grip. The grips come in 11 color options (Black, Red, Grey, Pink, Blue, Olive Green, Orange, Purple, Green, Turquoise, and Brown) so junior can customize the look of their bike.
The handlebars use the smaller 31.8 clamp diameter, as part of the range there is the Nixie stem which is 3D forged from AL6061 and comes in 40mm or 50mm lengths. To keep things matching, the stem comes in the same color options as the handlebars.
Last but not least, Funn has released the Taipan S pedal which has been designed to offer better grip to smaller feet. The W95mm x L80mm x H 14mm glass fiber reinforced thermoplastic body has a compact size for more clearance. To try and avoid discouraging shin injuries but still offer grip, each pedal features a combination of four molded pins and six alloy pins per side.
The Hilt JR grips are available to buy now and retail for $40. The Taipan S pedals and Upturn R75mm handlebar will follow in early July, retailing for $40 and $64.90 respectively. Finally, the Speedrun JR handlebar and Nixie Stem are expected in early August, retailing for $39.90 each.
