Haibike launches the Lyke – a lightweight, trail oriented e-MTB
Haibike's new Lyke trail bike features a carbon frame, Fazua motor and 140mm of travel
Haibike has launched the Lyke, a new e-MTB aimed at the emerging lightweight e-MTB category. The new bike features a carbon frame, Fazoua motor, and 140mm of suspension front and rear.
Recently we have seen the best electric mountain bikes diverging into two categories as brands have begun releasing lighter weight but lower power e-bikes. Specialized released the Turbo Levo SL which has been followed by bikes like Trek's Fuel EXe and the not-yet-available Transition Relay.
The Lyke is Haibike's lightest e-MTB to date and is based around a carbon frame fitted with a Fazua Ride60 motor that produces 60Nm of torque, it's powered by a 430Wh battery in the downtube (which can be boosted with a 210Wh optional external Range Extender). Aimed at trail riders, the Lyke has 29er wheels and 140mm of travel front and rear.
The Lyke hasn't gone too radical when it comes to geometry, a well-measured 65-degree head angle, 77.3-degree seat angle, and a 450mm reach (size medium) should lend itself well to the type of general trail riding the Lyke is aimed at. Haibike will offer its new bike in small to XL frame sizes.
Haibike are offering the Lyke in three builds; Lyke SE, Lyke 11, and Lyke 10. If Haibike's weights are accurate, the top of the range Lyke SE weighs in at 18.5kg for a large which is on par with the equally priced Trek Fuel EXe. The Lyke 11 and Lyke10 weigh a claimed 18.8kg and 19.6kg respectively, both in size Large.
Haibike Lyke availability, range, and specs
Pricing for the Lyke starts at £5,699, followed by £6,599 for the Lyke 11 and £8,799 for the Lyke SE – US prices have not yet been released.
Bikes should be available in late November or early December although specific dates are to be confirmed.
