Bosch has released a free update to its Smart System which adds some useful new features to one of the best e-MTB motors.

The update, which can be downloaded for free via the eBike Flow app, adds more tuning potential as well as enhanced navigation functions and route planning.

While it's been possible to modify and tune the behaviors of Bosch powered e-MTB riding modes (Race, Sport, Cargo, Turbo, Auto, Tour, and Eco) up until now, the new update gives riders the ability to modify the eMTB and Tour+ modes as well.

That means riders will now be able to tune these modes to fine-tune the amount of power required and how it's delivered, based on personal preference or increasing motor efficiency and battery life.

If you use the app for navigation and route planning, Bosch has added some new features that will be very useful when heading out for a ride on your best electric mountain bike.

New map detail variants will help with route planning, showing ‘Satellite’, ‘MTB Trails’ and the new ‘eBike Heatmap’ options. The ‘MTB Trails’ and ‘eBike Heatmap’ are particularly interesting. ‘MTB Trails’ shows nearby off-road trails and their grade while the ‘eBike Heatmap’ shows routes that are regularly used by eBikers.

Bosch has also added some extra languages, the eBike Flow app is now available in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and Czech.

The update is available through the eBike Flow app which can be downloaded via the Google Play and Apple App Stores.
